Shopian: Authorities in South Kashmir’s Shopian district have seized 40 quintals of misbranded vermicompost fertilizers in the Sofannaman area.
Chief Agriculture Officer Farooq Ahmad told Kashmir Bulletin that samples of these fertilizers were previously collected for testing. Upon confirmation of misbranding, enforcement teams took swift action to confiscate the stock.
“We have established inspection teams at the tehsil and block levels to ensure rigorous monitoring of all agricultural establishments. Our squads are actively working to detect and prevent the sale of misbranded products,” he said.
Ahmad further assured that fertilizers would only be allowed for sale after thorough verification. The Agriculture Department, in collaboration with the Tehsil Office and Law Enforcement Agency, conducted the raid, seizing nearly 40 quintals of misbranded vermicompost.
Authorities have pledged strict action against those involved in distributing substandard agricultural products to safeguard farmers’ interests.
