Bandipora, Feb 6: A devastating fire broke out in the Arampora Sumbal area of Bandipora district on Thursday evening, completely destroying three structures. The fire gutted a double-storey residential house, a wooden three-room residential building, and a kitchen.
According to officials from the Fire and Emergency Services Department, the blaze affected properties belonging to Nazir Ahmed Dar, son of Sona Ulla, a resident of Arampora Inderkote. Despite the efforts of the firefighters, the fire had already consumed the structures before they could bring the situation under control.
Fire tenders from Sumbal fire station quickly responded and began efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby properties. However, their efforts were complicated by two gas cylinder explosions, which caused the flames to intensify. Due to the severity of the situation, additional fire tenders were sent from Naidkhai fire station, and after a strenuous battle, the fire was finally controlled.
The official believed that the likely cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, the police have taken cognizance of the incident and launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
