Multiple Theft Cases Solved in Anantnag, 5 Arrested; Stolen Property Recovered: Police

Anantnag, Aug 27 (Indian Express): In a significant breakthrough, the Anantnag Police have successfully resolved multiple theft cases, leading to the arrest of five individuals from the Kokernag area. Stolen property worth lakhs of rupees has been recovered from the suspects.

According to a police statement, a special team was formed in collaboration with the ESU Anantnag, which developed technical leads resulting in the arrest of five accused. The individuals have been identified as Mohd Imran Hajam, son of Mohd Shaban, a resident of Wan Devalgam; Nasir Ahmad Dar, son of Showkat Dar, a resident of Tangpawa Kokernag; Adil Hussain Dar, son of Ali Mohd Dar, a resident of Nagam; Shabir Ahmad Wagay, son of Gh Hassan, a resident of Nagam Kokernag; and Arshid Hussain Rather, son of Mohd Akbar, a resident of Sultanpora Pattan.

During the investigation, stolen property, including five gold coins, five gold rings, four pairs of earrings, one pendant set, one gold chain, one gold necklace with a pendant, and three mobile phones, as well as ₹36,000 in cash, were recovered from their possession. Additionally, two vehicles used in the commission of these crimes were seized.

Multiple Theft Cases Solved in Anantnag

Cases have been registered under FIR No. 83/2024 and FIR No. 05/2024 at Police Station Kokernag, and further investigation is underway. The local community has praised the police’s efforts in solving these cases. The police have urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods, emphasizing that community cooperation is vital for maintaining safety and security across the district.
